Would you feel uncomfortable if you were at a park, a zoo, meeting for lunch, etc. and your date was much more formally dressed than you?
For a date next weekend to a family-oriented amusement park I was planning on wearing a white shirt+ red/white tie with ruby cufflinks and snakeskin boots with rubber soles and a silver tie clip. Some of my female friends think that is entirely too much and would make her uncomfortable.
In your experience does overdressing when meeting an acquaintance kill the date? I don’t feel that I should have to dress down just because of archaic norms of society.
In the past I have worn a 3 piece suit with cufflinks and alligator shoes to a picnic.
If it matters, I dress like that all the time anyway.
I wear ties, leather dress shoes, etc. everyday so I would not be pretending to be someone I’m not.
